How does Paytel work
|
-
Do I need
to change my current office number?
No and yes. Your old number will be unaffected
but if your customers do not call your new
Paytel number you won't earn anything.
-
Will my current customers
still be able to contact me if I switch over to
a Paytel number?
Yes definitely. Since your old number is
unaffected and still works customer that know
your current number will still be able to
contact you as normal. We recommend that
you immediately start promoting your new office
(Paytel) number where and when ever possible to
get the maximum profit benefits from the Paytel
number as soon as possible!
- Where does the money
come from?
Cell phone and landline service providers such
as Vodacom, Telkom and MTN charges cell phone
rates (R 2.85 per minute, see Costs) when
calling a Paytel number. A portion of this rate
will be paid to the relevant business owner who
receives the call.
On average Paytel users earn 32c excluding VAT
per minute. This is broken down into 50c from
MTN numbers and 25c on incoming calls received
from any other numbers from other service
providers such as Telkom, Vodacom etc. All
values exclude VAT!
Off peak rates starts at 19:00. On all calls
received from MTN numbers during off peak hours
you will still earn 50c per minute, however on
any other calls received from any other service
providers such as Telkom you will earn 15.5c
(excluding VAT).
- Do I get a new number?
Yes. Although your older number will still work,
to receive the benefits that Paytel has to offer
you will have to use your Paytel number for
receiving incoming calls to your business line.
Your old number will be unaffected.
- Will my old number still
work?
Yes, but unlike your Paytel number your old
number does not generate income when
called. The benefit of Paytel is that you will never again have
to change your number, even when you move office.
Simply have
calls diverted to your new office number when
you move.

- What do Paytel numbers
look like?
Paytel numbers usually start with 08391 and
looks similar to cell phone numbers. It's now
widely accepted by large corporate businesses as
the new type of business number. Companies like
Computicket the AA, Junk Mail are already using this
type of service.
- Can I choose my own
number?
No unfortunately not
- How will my current
phone setup or switchboard be influenced?
Your current phone setup remains unchanged and
Paytel has no effect on your phone lines, phone
systems, or switchboard. The only thing that
changes is the fact that your customer has to call
your new Paytel number in order for you to earn income from incoming
calls. If they call your old number you
will not earn anything.
- What else do I need to
know about the service?
When you publish your Paytel number you need to
adhere to the
terms of use policy. Free minutes
do not apply when calling Paytel numbers and
calls are charged at the cell phone rate of
R 2.85 per minute. Since almost 80% of people
call from cell phones these days the cost impact
to customer will be minimal as they would
already have
paid cell phone rates to make a call. Paytel simply allows you to earn money on
the amount your customers would spend anyway.
Note that when receiving calls after hours you Paytel
number earns less money per minute than during
peak hours.

- How does the free trial work?
The 30 day free trail is an opt out trail. This
means that you can cancel the service anytime
before the trial ends without any further
obligation whatsoever. Should you want to keep
your number simply keep going without canceling,
then the activation fee will automatically be
deducted from your selected bank account the day
after your trial expires. Congratulations you

Payouts
|
- How will I be paid?
We will pay you directly into the bank account
you supplied during signup. This is also
the account from which your activation fee will
be deducted. You can view your bank
details on the "My Paytel" section after you
logged onto the Paytel website.
- When will I get paid?
Money generated from your Paytel number will be
paid in your account 30 days after month end (30
days in arrears). The minimum payment amount is
R100 so should the amount owed to you be less
than R100.00 it will be rolled over to the next
month for payment.
- Where do I see what I
have been paid?
We will send you an email with the payment
details and the money will reflect on your bank
account. You will also be able to view all
earnings online in your "My Paytel"
section after you have logged on.
- How much can I earn?
On average Paytel users earn 32c excluding VAT
per minute. This is broken down into 50c from
MTN numbers and 25c on incoming calls received
from any other numbers from other service
providers such as Telkom, Vodacom etc. All
values exclude VAT!
Off peak rates starts at 19:00. On all calls
received from MTN numbers during off peak hours
you will still earn 50c per minute, however on
any other calls received from any other service
providers such as Telkom you will earn 15.5c
(excluding VAT).
Lets say your business has two incoming lines (one
hunting number) and on average you receive 20
calls per line per day and each call last on an
average 3 minutes you will earn R856.00 per
month.
- When will I earn money
and when not?
This is important to understand. You will
only earn money from calls made to your Paytel
number and not from calls made directly to your
business line only. Since your old business number
will still work it is advisable that you switch over
completely to the using only the Paytel number, thus
ensuring that you earn money from all calls. The only way
to do this is to promote, and publish the number so
that it can be used!. Once your number starts
receiving calls and start generating income, payment
will automatically be made to your selected bank
account 30 days after month end.

Office setup
|
- One line setup?
Easy! Simply have a Paytel number diverted to
the applicable land line number.
- Two or more lines with
hunting, with or without switchboard?
When you have multiple lines or a switch board
you will have to have the "Call Hunting" feature
from Telkom enabled. If your line is busy this is a feature will divert your
call to your next available (or alternative)
Telkom line. So it allows you to use one telephone
number for all your land lines. Simply have your Paytel number linked
(diverted ) to your main hunting line number. If
you do not have the Hunting feature enabled
please call Telkom to have the service
activated.
- Two or more lines setup
without hunting?
If you have no switchboard or hunting and each
of your lines are called directly, you will
have to apply for a Paytel number per telephone
line. You will then have different numbers for
each line. It is recommended that you rather
call Telkom and have the “Call Hunting” feature
enabled on your lines. See above for more
details on Hunting.
- Will Paytel work with
our Switchboard?
Yes definitely. Paytel works with any switchboard, any land line and any
IVR system. In fact, the more lines you
have the more money you make. Paytel is
simply a virtual number which is diverted to your existing office
number. So should
someone call your Paytel number your office
number will ring and you start earning money. There
is nothing more to it! !
- Does the size of our
business matter?
Not at all! Paytel works perfectly for all
business sizes from massive corporate helpdesks
to the one man home business. It
is an extremely versatile number.

Costs
|
- What does Paytel cost?
To activate your
number permanently a once off
activation fee of R360 will be charged that
will give you lifelong access to your number providing that
you use it to receive no less than 5 minutes of
calls per month (averaged over 3 months). There
are no monthly fees for Paytel and you can try
it for free for 30 days. The R360 activation fee
will be deducted from your listed bank
account which you used during signup.
- What does it cost to
call a Paytel Number?
Paytel numbers are charged at the standard cell
phone rate of R 2.85 incl. VAT per minute. Free
minutes do not apply. On average 80%
of callers will call your business from a cell phone and would have
been paying cell phone rates to make that call in the first place. So Paytel
allows you to generate income from money that
your customer would have spent anyway and the
impact on customers is therefore minimal.
Some large
companies such as Computicket , the AA, Junk mail and BizFax
already uses this type of service.
- Are there any other
hidden costs?
No
